Kids don't have the language adults have — they show us how they feel through behavior, play, and the body. Our child therapists are trained in play therapy, trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), and parent-child interaction approaches so we can meet your child where they are. Parents are part of the team from day one.
This may be a good fit if your child experiences…
- ✓Anxiety, school refusal, or perfectionism
- ✓Big emotions, meltdowns, or behavior at home or school
- ✓Trauma, loss, or family transitions (divorce, move, new sibling)
- ✓Selective mutism or social anxiety
- ✓Sleep, eating, or toileting issues with an emotional component
Key benefits
A Way In That Isn't Talking
Children show what they cannot say. Play, sand tray and art give a child a route to the hard material at a distance they can manage.
Parents Are Part of the Plan
Regular parent sessions are built in. Much of what changes at home changes because the household responds differently, not because of anything that happens in the playroom.
Change You Can See at Home and School
Progress usually shows first as sleeping better, fewer meltdowns, or going back to something they had dropped. Your therapist tracks the goals you agreed alongside that.
Coordination With the Adults Around Them
With your consent we speak to teachers and pediatricians, so everyone in your child's week is working from the same picture.
A Room That Belongs to the Child
You get themes and guidance rather than a transcript. A child who believes everything is reported back stops showing anything. Anything touching their safety comes to you immediately.
Play Therapy
For ages 4–10, play is therapy. Sand tray, puppets, drawing, and structured games let kids externalize what they can't yet put into words. Our play therapists are trained in both non-directive (child-led) and directive (skill-building) play modalities.
Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is the gold-standard treatment for childhood trauma. It's a structured 12–16 session protocol that builds coping skills first, then gradually processes the trauma, with parent involvement throughout.
Parent Coaching
Every child case includes regular parent sessions. We teach the same emotion-coaching, co-regulation, and limit-setting skills your therapist is teaching your child, so the work doesn't stay in the office.
School & Pediatrician Coordination
With your permission, we coordinate with teachers, school counselors, and your pediatrician — sharing strategies, attending IEP meetings, or writing letters of medical necessity when needed.
