Accessibility
Getting help should not depend on how you use a computer.
Crown Counseling wants everyone to be able to read this site, understand what care we offer, and start an intake, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, rely on captions, or need larger text and higher contrast.
What we aim for
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. In practice that means every page can be operated by keyboard alone, focus is always visible, images that carry meaning have text alternatives, form fields have real labels, colour is never the only thing distinguishing one state from another, and animation is turned off for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
We have not yet had the site audited by an independent accessibility firm, so we are not claiming full conformance. Where we fall short, we would rather hear about it and fix it than say nothing.
Known limitations
- Some articles were carried over from our previous website and may contain images without descriptions, or tables that are awkward to read with a screen reader. We are working through them.
- The self-guided EMDR and assessment tools are visual and interactive by nature. The bilateral audio tools work without sight; the light bar and eye-movement tools do not. If one of these would help you and you cannot use it, your therapist can run the same exercise with you in session.
- The embedded Google map on our office and footer pages is a third-party component we do not control. The address, directions and transit information are also given as text.
If this site gets in your way
Tell us, and we will fix it — and in the meantime we will get you what you needed another way. Call or text (718) 208-4780, or email Office@crowncounseling.com. Please say which page you were on and what happened. We answer accessibility requests the same way we answer everyone else: a real person, within one business day.
You can also start an intake entirely by phone. Nothing on this website is the only route to care.
